Near Perfect Universal Mount

by SN Star from Washington DC on 2010-07-26
This was my first every Projector installation and i chose this over numerous others because this mount seemed to have multiple axis caliberation options and i was right. The mount itself is nice and compact - good quality and very sturdy. I mounted Optoma HD20 - It took me a few mins to figure out how to align the base clamps to fit the 3 mounting holes under HD20 (Had to reverse one of the inner clamps) and it fit perfect. I think in the earlier reviews, where ever the reviewers have mentioned that assembly was required or it did not fit the projector right out of the box - well - its a universal mount, and YOU have to figure out how best to utilize it.All the bolts/hardware needed for my installation care right out of the box. After aligning and tightening the screws, there is no projector shift or movement. I rate this product 5 stars.

Disappointed

by Bobby J. Truong from Philadelphia, PA on 2010-07-26
You really get what you paid for. I bought this ceiling projector mount after reading several positive reviews. I have an Epson 8100. The directions were not too clear on assembling this together but after sitting there and staring at the non descriptive diagram you somehow begin to piece everything together. But the materials use for this mount are very cheap and poorly manufacturered. Would you believe that 2 of the 3 mounting long screws broke while I was fastening the mount to the wood on my unfinished basement. I therefore had to go to Home Depot and get replacement fastening screws. After this incident it makes me leary about the 3 little screws holding basically my entire projector on 3 legs.

Cheap and works, but man it's a pain to get installed right.

by americanpryde from on 2010-07-25
The unit is well built, and overall I am satisfied now that it is installed. However, mounting my projector (Optoma HD66) to this was both frustrating and took numerous tries to get it right.

For lightweight projectors.

by Anonymous from on 2010-07-21
I put a 15+ pound projector on this and adjusting it was extremely difficult. It took well over a half hour of adjusting and readjusting. The metal is very thin and if you play with the bolts too much the threads will strip and it will no longer stay solid (assuming you could ever call it solid with a heavy projector on it, as thin as it is).I'm sure this would be fine for a projector in the neighborhood of 5 lbs, but if you are putting something big and heavy on, go for a tougher mount!Funny, I swear I reviewed this before but I can't find my review in the list. I guess I had not clicked submit.

Not truly universal but solid

by George S. Mcknight from on 2010-07-11
On my Chrisie Projecter i could only fit 3 of the 4 mounting arms to it. but other than the mounting arms being slightly to short, the mount is well designed

Sturdy, adjustable and easy to install

by G. Nair from Huntingdon Vly, PA on 2010-02-20
The shaft length is adjustable. Lots of adjustment screws to fine tune position of the projector after it has been screwed to the posts.Only gotcha is that it comes with 4 mounting legs, but only three 3" extenders. Using just the 3 that were provided, I could not mount on the four posts of my projector, even though the max distance between any two posts on my projector is 10.5 (within the specs for this kit). However, once I contacted the seller, they were quick to mail me the extra extender. All set now.

It's all it needs to be

by Eduardo Abraham from Utah on 2010-01-28
I bought this for my HD-65 and besides having to mess with arms a little bit to get it to actually fit this tiny projector I had to use just 3 of the little arms on it. Just a heads up for HD-65 owners. It works great though. It's solid sturdy and blends in with my white ceiling.. The best I've found for the price

videoSecu Univ ceiling mount

by William Krivanek from PGH PA on 2009-11-11
This did the job that was needed!! I used this mount for an Inforcus projector for our theatre room. First off, prior reviews made me suspect of buying this because they stated flimsy quality, mount, hardware, etc. I hooked this too a stud in the ceiling and it easliy held my wife a couple feet from the floor!!!!!!! The instructions could be a little bit better, but its pretty much common sense. Pitch and yaw angles are minimal, but will get the job done to make sure your have a straight picture. I even hooked this mount to an Optoma just to see if it would fit and no suprises it did with ease. If you contemplating this mount, I would say get it!! it is surely worth the cheap price and the delivery time was amazing as well!

Good little device

by Jason Anderson from Lyman, WY on 2009-11-09
Pros: This mounting bracket was very easy to install on our drop ceiling. And is also very user friendly to adjust the swivel to go up or down, left or right for an accurate screen on our wallCon: Did not have screws that fit in our Epson projector. I had to take our projector to a hardware store and make sure the screws would fit.Other than not having the supplied screws this bracket is very nice to have.

You get MORE for your money with this one!

by acid6x from mendocino county Ca. on 2009-03-09
I bought this mount after reading the reviews and was a little edgy about it because of the "one star" review i read that said it might just drop from the ceiling...Well before i hung my projector from it I ACTUALLY GRABBED ONTO IT AND HUNG WITH THE FULL 140LBS OF MY BODY WEIGHT AND IT SLIPPED ABOUT 1/4" AND THEN CAUGHT. I noticed that if you turn the sliding height adjustment bar upside down it will slip off SO MAKE SURE YOU PUT THAT BAR ON THE RIGHT WAY (try it both ways, the right one will be obvious) If you install it correctly you REALLY CANT BEAT THIS FOR THE MONEY. It is a must that you be somewhat mechanically inclined..if your unsure, have a friend on hand for second opinions and to help you hold everything steady. Once its up its easy to make adjustments and it looks sweet!

Poor

by Home from on 2010-07-11
the screws are too tight so i rounded all of them trying to slacken them

So good .. it's bad

by Paul Cherry from Brisbane, QLD, AU on 2010-05-24
Just a quick one on this projector mount. It is so customizable and so adjustable, it is actually a weakness. The product itself is well built and goes together well, however the quick release at the bottom of the pole isn't precisely cut (a couple of mm out) so I find my projector hangs a little to one side so I have to put a weight on the other side to balance it out. I am thinking of taking it somewhere to get it welded and fixed into position. I am only using one of the sections of pole, and when I have to adjust some settings on my projector, the whole thing wobbles a bit, I would hate to think of what it is like with the full pole extension.Overall, a very flexible product, possible too many "options" are to its detriment. It is also a creamy color, not white. Cable management is good. Also comes with a lot of screws for every different type of projector. I have had this for almost a year now, but will be changing it soon to a shorter, direct ceiling mount (possibly the same brand because they are good quality / great value) but this particular one might just be too good .. it's bad. This mount has held a Panasonic AE4000 for me.

Tools did not fit, screws fused to body

by HTBK from San Francisco, CA USA on 2010-05-13
Some of the extension brackets come already screwed onto the body of the mount, and you are supposed to loosen them with the 3mm Allens Key that comes with the product. Unfortunately, 1) the Allens keys that came with the product for this purpose did not fit the screws, so I had to run down to the hardware store to pick up a size that fit, and then 2) three of the four screws appeared to be fused to the body and were impossible to remove (making the entire unit unusable).Someone reported a similar problem with another Atdec mount here on Amazon (the flush mount, I believe it's TH-WH-PJ-FM), and like them, I couldn't tell if the screws were just mechanically attached far too tightly or actually fused to the body. But whatever the cause, after trying the correct sized Allens key (successfully on one of the four screws, although that one was so tight it stripped off some of the white paint from underneath it) and several other heads that I managed to get to fit from the toolbox (including a Torx head), all we managed to do was strip the other heads.I opted for a competitor's product instead. It sounds from the other reviews like the mount is fine if you get one without these issues, but considering that folks with other related models experienced the same problem as me, it seems like this company just has some quality control issues.

HIts and misses

by Derek Battle from Huntsville, AL USA on 2010-04-19
A hit with me is the overall ease of installation and the adjustable length. An annoying miss is the fact that cables cannot be routed inside the mount without taking the mount apart since the bolts that hold each section together take up too much space. Admittedly you don't change cables very often. This mount is super-sturdy but then the projector position adjustment could be better designed for smoother manipulation. Overall a solid mount that's attractive and easy to install but not perfect.

Atdec Projector mount

by Craig Cusworth from on 2010-03-15
This is a sturdy mount. All metal construction (unlike a different mount I've used that had a plastic part that could break and allow the whole protector to come down). The design is versatile, easy to adjust and has a lot of extra hardware. Being able to route the cables through the support tube is a nice feature as well. I am very happy with it.

Great Mount

by D. Holovacko from South Amboy, NJ United States on 2009-03-29
After I stopped looking at the instructions the installation was easy. It seems very secure holding my panasonic ae3000u projector. I've heard complaints about adjustment screws not being versitale enough, but i found them to be quite adaquit. The extension tube made it seemingly flush mounted to my drop ceiling with its 1 inch intervals. It can extend from 12-18 inches using the extension. Overall i would say it well worth the money.

Excellent mount

by Barry A. Hudson from Lakewood, CO USA on 2008-12-26
This mount is secure and offers a lot of ways to mount a projector. It is very adjustable and has good fine adjustment to precisely match your screen. It's quite easy to install with average skills.

great price

by Bronson Brown-devost from on 2008-12-20
This is nice and sturdy, with lots of fine tuning option. The screw that keeps the projector from swiveling left to right is not that great and there is a little play in the fittings.

Super product, awesome customer service

by Prabal K. Bhattacharya from San Jose, CA USA on 2010-08-31
I needed this for my Epson 1080 projector. The mount is very well built, and the instructions, albeit sketchy, are easy to follow. The 12" arm creates a whole range of possibilities including doing a wall mount in the shelf style (projector NOT upside down) which is what I decided to do. I definitely recommend this. Also this review would not be complete if I did not mention the customer service at Vantage Point. While doing the install I realized that it'd help me to create a more secure connection with an additional arm. Normally this requirement is satisfied by combining the short and long arms (3 of each are provided in the box). In my case I could only use the long arms due to the size of the projector. When I called the customer service, the person immediately offered me to send the extra arm free of cost (including free shipping!) and patiently explained all the different ways I could use the product. It is customer service of this nature that makes one become a lifelong customer of a brand or a company. I'd definitely go back to their products for my future needs.

Great mount

by erewrwerrew from alameda, CA United States on 2010-08-11
Great Product! I was looking for a projector mount to place it on the wall and this one gets the job done very well. feels very solid and stable. it takes a little to time to get the angle for for picture to look good but over all its a great mount.

Versatile, Stable, Easy to Install

by HTBK from San Francisco, CA USA on 2010-07-06
As the title says, this mount has everything I was looking for. It is highly adjustable in every direction, making it very easy to angle the projector to exactly the position you need. It feels very secure, and the instructions were clear enough that it was simple and quick to install. No additional tools required, and unlike the mount that I returned and replaced with this one, the pieces come separated, not pre-screwed together so tightly you risk stripping the screwheads just to take them apart before you can even get to the assembly.Having the projector ceiling mounted is great for saving space and to get the full theater effect. It's far more convenient than setting the projector on a shelf or end table. Just make sure that you measure twice before starting to drill your ceiling - you'll want to make sure the lens of the projector will end up lined up as near as possible with the center of the screen, and at an appropriate range for your particular projector.I use mine with the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8100 Home Theatre Projector (V11H336120), and they work together perfectly.

Doesn't work with Viewsonic Pro8100

by M. Stringer from on 2010-06-05
Mount does not include screws that fit the Pro8100. Had to call company and they have to ship me the screws. Should not say "universal" when it's clearly not.

Projector Mount

by lk2bnmaine from Massachusetts/Maine on 2010-05-06
I bought this mount based on a review by someone who said that he had had the same projector that I had (Epson 8100). I use this as a wall mount in the back of my room which I am told I can. The mount should be gear driven as it slips because it is a smooth connection. The set screws do not hold it in place as they should, it still slips and the projector rests against the wall. I've had to readjust my screen to fit the configuration that this mount has decided for me. It states that it will hold projectors weighing much more than mine but It won't even hold my 18lb projector without slipping. I do not recommend this mount.

Great Wall Mount!

by Scott from Grand Rapids, MN United States on 2010-08-06
Great Product! Installed in under twenty minutes to the wall and works great! No need to spend more money on the more expensive mounts!

What u pay is what you get.

by Hobbyist from on 2010-05-25
As I said, what you pay is what u get. Pros: cheap, very easy to connect.. multiple options to connect to projector. Everything included in the box.Cons: provided screws for projector did not match the length so had to get shorter screws. Mount could has only adjustment of 30 degrees vertically. No horizontal adjustment. When I got it mounted first, it was at least 20 degrees cross. I had to play with the alignment for the screws that connect to projector to make it more straight.I would not recommend this if you were a one-time DIY person.

Works perfect

by L. Bailey from on 2010-01-09
This mount was easy to assemble and looks to be adjustable for any projector. I have it on an Epson 6100 and it is a monster. Comes with different size sets of screws for other projectors too. Saved a ton of money at this price and works as well as the $150 one I was going to buy. As far as any comments about assembly being hard, I would say that is "user error"

Not as UNIVERSAL as claimed

by K. Target from on 2009-12-28
This is a great projector mount and very solid construction but beware that it is not completely universal and not easy to set up. I bought this to mount my Optoma H65 projector. I suspect the mount is designed for larger (heavier projectors). It comes complete with several different size bolts but not the M3 bolts required for the H65 (hoepfully they can upgrade the kit to include them - finding M3 bolts is not easy). The H65 is a relatively small projector and the mounting bolts are not spaced far apart. Adjusting the "universal" mount to fit was a real brain puzzle and I came close to giving up several times. It would be helpful if they incldued illustration of how to set it up for the most popular projectors.I'm happy with it now it is installed but it took a LONG time to set it all up.

Good basic, low profile, ceiling mount for projector

by F. Rayyis from San Francisco, CA United States on 2009-09-09
Very good. Just make sure you have a stud finder. I don't recommend this product without screwing it into a stud. Relatively easy to figure out. If you have doubts, find someone who knows better.I tried a few different projector mounts before I settled on the functionality and simplicity of this one. I like the relative inconspicuousness of this product

Good, solid mount; could be improved

by R. G. Godbold from on 2009-11-29
Once mounted, it's solid enough. And the 4 screws used to fine tune the projector's aim work well. The method for separating the half that's fastened to the ceiling from the half that's fastened to the projector is good, and it's easy to do it w/o messing up the aim of the projector.I have an Optoma HD20, and the 3 mount-points on it are just within the diameter of the ring that the adjustable legs attach to. I was able to get it mounted OK, but I had to get creative. The mount holds the projector steady, and it hasn't sagged/drifted/moved since I set it a week ago.The area where the product could be improved is the screws that are used at the various points of adjustment. They used "security" Allen/Hex heads, and it's easy to strip them. Because of the poor choice of driver shape, there are a few screws that are really hard to get tight enough to feel secure---the most problematic ones are those that are used to adjust the metal tabs that attach to the projector and the "legs". All in all, the problem is a combination of the torque required to properly tighten some of the screws coupled with the driver shape that doesn't handle the needed torque very well.In the end, what drove me to purchase this over less expensive ones is that this is shorter (lower profile). Even with the "creative" mounting, the projector is still just under 4" from the ceiling; the next shortest mount says its minimum distance is 5". Given our 7.5' basement ceiling, every inch counts.
