Not bad for the price

It took about 2-1/2 hours to assemble this screen. The packaging was fine. Some of the hardware was different from the instructions, and some was mis-matched.The frame went together fine and seems relatively sturdy. Some of the screw holes didn't quite line up.The instructions don't really say how tight the screen should be and could be A LOT better.The screen itself is decent. I'm not a videophile but the image is a lot nicer than the big roll of paper we had been using. With the velvety finish it looks like a much more expensive item.All in all I could probably make a do-it-yourself kit for a few bucks cheaper but this isn't bad for $160.

Big screen, small package, wrong dimensions

Let me start this review by saying my review is based on a free screen - I got it bundled through Amazon with my purchase of an Optoma HD65. That said, for free, it's a really amazing screen. But I'd say it's definitely worth the price of purchase, too. When properly pieced together, it looks sharp and a lot more expensive than it really is.But here's why I'm knocking it down a star, and I partly blame Amazon and Elite Screens. The product description lists the screen as 73" wide, which was supposed to easily fit the 76" space that I had in place. But when it was all said and constructed, the screen was nearly 80" wide, and too large for my wall. Fortunately, I have an alternate wall to use, but I would have been pretty upset after spending an hour and a half putting it together and I didn't.Still, this thing is sharp, and I'm actually happy it's bigger than my original space - gives me a little more screen size. Just have a buddy there to help you put it together, because it will really help. You can go it alone, but I wouldn't recommend it.This screen, though, I definitely would.

Who needs a $2000 screen?

I bought this screen along with an Optoma hd20 projector about a week ago. As another poster has stated, I don't know why you would pay $1500-2000 on a screen (maybe i'm naive)but this screen surpassed almost all my expectations! Had no problems with set up, it was a breeze. I don't know exactly what I was expecting but this screen is constructed of high quality material. The frame is made of steel surrounded by black velvet. Looks very elegant! I am extremely pleased! Every night is movie night!

For the price, this screen can not be beaten. It went together quite easily between my wife and I (just over an hour). The felt surround cancels out light like a champ and the screen is super well made and put together. Not flimsy at all. I wish this screen had been around when we bought our electric roll down screen from Elite back in the day. This screen quality is very good and you can only pick up any graininess when there is extreme whites being thrown on the screen. You can't beat this. We payed $414 at the time.

It would seem that I'm sort of in the minority here, but I had a somewhat harder time putting this together than the other reviews here make it sound like you should. It took me a couple of hours with one other person, but in the end, we did get it together and coupled with my Panasonic AE-4000U it looks INCREDIBLE! It's also very impressive looking even when nothing is being projected onto it, so it has that going for it too. Definitely recommended, just follow the instructions in the manual **to the letter** or you'll have a harder time during assembly than you ought to.

Excellent screen when you want top quality without top price

I have just finished setting up my first home projection system, and I was initially very uncertain about what to use for a projection surface. I had seen all of the overpriced screen options on the market and was just considering painting a white patch directly onto my living room wall to project onto. I ran across a great discounted price for this screen here on Amazon and I decided that it would be would be worth a try. Boy was I right! This screen is wonderful. It has a really solid and well-built aluminum frame, and the screen stretches nicely without any wrinkles or imperfections. Everything was packaged really well also. I'm very happy with the visual performance of the screen, and it looks very nice on the wall. The black velour covering on the frame works really well for framing the image, and has a very quality look and feel.My only complaint would be that the manual was somewhat lacking, and had several loose pages inserted with some redundant/conflicting instructions. However, once you get an idea of how the pieces of the frame are meant to come together, it really isn't much of a problem.I assembled the frame by myself in a short time, but it really does take a second person to help stretch the screen and clip it in place. Putting the ton of clips around the edge of the screen is not really difficult, but is just very tedious, and I definitely had some sore fingers when I was done.

Stunning picture w/ Epson 8500 UB

Just bought this screen and set it up with an Epson Home Cinema 8500 UB. The picture quality is exceptional. In my opinion, the Epson with this Elite screen is actually better than going to the theater. The colors just jump off this screen and are crystal clear.My friend has an Epson 8100 and the Elite Screens Manual Pull Down Projection Screen ( http://www.amazon.com/Elite-Screens-Manual-Projection-Screen/dp/B00061O4DW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265148876&sr=8-3) and the picture quality was not nearly as good as this screen. I think it's totally worth the extra money to get this screen.In terms of setting up the screen, it takes longer than the company claims. I set up the screen by myself and it took me 2.5 hours. It was however my first time setting up a projection screen - so take that with a grain of salt.One issue that I cared about was the ability to transport the screen in the future. The company doesn't make any direct claims on if deconstruction of the screen is "easy". I can tell you that taking the screen apart will take just as long as setting it up and it isn't easy.Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. If you are considering buying a projector, this screen is the best overall value currently available on the market.

Great product! Recived with no issues at all. Now putting this SOB together DOES TAKE MORE THAN ONE PERSON. The instructions were great very easy to follow. Im 6'5 259lb bodybuilder and even with my strenght i still needed the help of another buddy to pull the screen tight to clip it in ! The brackets were really easy to hang, and with my blu ray and Optoma HD65 projector the images looks un real ! Sooo amazing ! I would recommend this screen to all on a budget ! Thanks Amazon another great product !

One person setup with the frame and screen was easy. Mounting to the wall took some help but also was very easy. Frame is strong and looks great, I haven't even set up my projector yet and was still impressed with the screen.

Compared to more expensive screens, this is a pretty good value. However, the screen's material is not perfect. Now, that I've started watching movies on it, I've noticed a few hot spots where the whites are very slightly different colors in certain spots of the screen. I'm particular about details, so it draws my eyes to these spots in especially bright scenes. I wish I had gone with a better quality screen. If you will be sitting far away and you don't look closely for fine details such as this, you probably won't notice it. But if small details like this bug you, you might consider a higher quality screen. If you're looking for a good bargain screen with fair quality, then consider this one.
