I have a Sony 46 "XBR3 upgrate die but at least one "60. So when I see Samsung has two 65" on their respective line above 2010 (the 6500 and the not-yet-released-in-this time-8500), I knew I have to get one of them now.

First a few disclaimers on my decision to purchase:
1. I just want to buy a LCD LED Sony or Samsung - is a personal thing. Plasma N / regular LCD / projector. So there are not many options
2. Ideally, I would have bought a local dimming LED LCD, as it will the best contrast / dark level. But it is not available for 60 "+ and I do not see on the horizon in the next 18 months.
3. Hang the TV on the wall and use only the TV for display only. So all the other bells and whistles in the sound - I do not care and not reviewed
4. while in 3D can be cool, I think it is too exaggerated and not worth another $ 500-1K for 8500. Also I have the TV now for 6500 is!
5. This purchase is an upgrade my 46 "Sony XBR3, who was a model worth up 3-4 years ago. I also bought a Samsung 46" b650 LCD last year, so some of my comments will inevitably be compared with these televisions.

Pros:
1. Aesthetics. With a 1.2 "thick, this unit is super polished on especially if you hang on the wall - a great visual asset to our room. Seeing the one hand, bright screen really makes the unit looks more elegant.
2. Quality Image is not bad when you can overlook some uniformity issues in bright solid color scenes (see my cons). Does not cloud / flash light in the scenes issues dark are common with some LCD TVs. Excellent in terms of contrast and viewing angle, I see no significant degradation, even over 45 degrees.

Cons:
1. There is one major with the IMO to make this a 3.5 stars instead of 5-star The TV has some problems of uniformity (vertical stripes and lines of different colors). This is especially true if you are watching bright scenes (ie, see the World Cup in a sea of green grass or a player menu DVD when the background is supposed to be a solid color). At first, I thought this is due to a defective TV AMZN so I called for an exchange. (By the way, Congratulations AMZN concierge to the excellent CS.) But the second television also has the same problem, amid mild you may be able to "live with". Now I think the problem is due to the design of LED edge lit as the bands appear to show a pattern and especially obvious in the center (furtherst from the edge). Less than 1 star here!

(Cons other categories):
